The Salem Willows Fishing Pier, rebuilt by Marine Fisheries and the City of Salem and opened in November 2024, reaches more than 300 feet into Salem Sound from Salem Willows Park. It's fully accessible, and anglers were catching mackerel within hours of its opening. Marine Fisheries lists pollock, striped bass, bluefish, mackerel, cunner, winter flounder and squid among the pier's catches.
Where to fish
- The T at the end: the pier ends in a T, which gives more anglers room at the most sought-after spot.
- Salem Willows Park: almost 25 acres of public waterfront on Salem Neck, looking out on Beverly Harbor, the Danvers River and Salem Sound.
Getting there
Salem Willows Park is at 165 Fort Avenue in Salem. The city sets the park's rules and hours, so check them before a night trip. You need a Massachusetts saltwater fishing permit (a third of permit revenue funds public access projects like this pier). Striped bass have a slot limit and a circle hook rule for bait.
